Summary
Konan and Pein have always been bonded so much closer together than any pair they know.
However, they had always met as equals. Deadly ninja fully aware they never needed to hold back against each other, no matter the playing field. But now...
It was done willingly, with the full understanding of why she had to do it, had to say yes when Pein asked, when her memory of the boys she once loved asked. But now... Konan was forced to carry a burden she never wanted, forced to yield when she would have fought before, and forced to watch as other kunoichi she may have respected in a different time, different circumstances had their wills broken and reformed before her eyes.
She'd never change her answer, nor the weight around her neck. But sometimes, it was far easier to have denied Pein's request than accept it. And some things, no matter how solid and steady, should change after all.
