There's usually a moment of fear preceding the first blow, an innate hesitation in front of the thought of killing another being while being this close. This time, however, as he swings his axe with all his weight behind it, there's only one thing he wants. Death.
The guard's face is hit brutally, one last scream as the blade catches the nose bridge before his head is smashed against the wall, a fresco of blood shattering marble, bone and wood alike. He likes the decoration, likes the color, likes the rush of power inflaming his limbs, making him invincible, a herald of destruction. He wants more, craves more.
He'll eat anyone who tries to harm his Constantin alive.

Time passed slowly for Pheobe. She did not want to look too obvious and go out searching for Vasco, and instead had tried to look wholly unbothered by his absence, but could not stop wondering where and why he'd not come home yet. It had been at least ten minutes, maybe twenty, and she was starting to get impatient. Siora looked to be nearly dozing next to the fire and Aphra had buried herself in another journal, reading up on her colleagues' notes about the island.
There came a polite knock upon the door and Pheobe sat up straight. She did not miss Aphra's attentive gaze as she pushed herself upright.
But it was not her captain at all.

Yet, as she spends more time in the company of her friends, she begins to doubt she is as untethered as she thought she was.
As Kurt spends more time on the strange island of Teer Fradee, he contemplates the sacrifice an on ol menawi like Siora must make in service to the island. Yet, as their bond grows, he realizes he would try prevent it from happening, for as long as he could.

Hello all! I've been here for a while. Read like a LOT of fanfictions and wanted to pour out something that kinda came from a dream I had weeks after I've completed the game. I'm a sucker for leading OC Female characters so... Uhm, here we are? This story will be told from perspective of both De Sardet and my OC aaaand probably some other chacters as well. Will see how it rolls. Hope you like strong and emancipated female leads plus snarky guys - this dorky whatever it will (and if) become is all a self indulgence. He wasn’t sure when he noticed the difference between his and Vasco’s height, and if he was being honest, it was probably when they first met, but there were other things on his mind then, and poking fun at the captain in charge of getting them across the ocean didn’t seem like a smart idea. That being said, as soon as Vasco joined De Sardet on Cabral’s orders, the Legate had keyed into the fact that while the captain was rightly pissed at the situation, De Sardet found the knowledge, that Vasco was shorter than he, awfully amusing—Vasco however, not so much.

He’d never seen De Sardet intoxicated, not on the Seahorse when they were crossing, nor at the massive party they had when they’d arrived on Teer Fradee. Hell, even when they’d gone to the taverns and ordered a few rounds, the Legate managed to keep up with Kurt, and still retain enough capability to have a sober conversation with Petrus about court politics. De Sardet could apparently hold his liquor with the best of ‘em, and Vasco was determined to see just what the man’s limit was. Question was, how was he going to do it? Luckily enough, Vasco gaining Cabral’s loyalty back was the perfect opportunity to invite everyone out for drinks.

Summary
This is just a series of little 'character sketches' - interactions between Kurt and De Sardet as De Sardet was growing up. I love that there's a lifetime of history between the two of them and thought it would be fun to that explore a little. I've rated it as Teen for now, because so far it's fine. That said, I don't know where I'm going with it, so rating may change.
For those not interested in the 'early years' stuff, the *Feels* start happening around Chapter 10.

Chapter 20: This chapter references domestic violence, murder, and parental death. They're not detailed references - a sentence or two.
There's also a very vague reference to Kurt's past (those who've played the game know what I'm referring to), but again, it's a fleeting sentence and no worse than in game dialogue.
Chapter 27: Reference to blood, deep wounds, and stitches.
Chapter 31: Sex, but this can be omitted - it isn't necessary for the story. The sex I've written here is intended to be read as loving (in case this impacts whether or not you'd like to read it) and happens after a horizontal line in the text, so you can skip this and move onto the next chapter should you so desire. -
