Bat Spin had grown up in caves. And caves, in her experience, were a little like haunted houses in their own way. Caves were hungry beings, drawing daring cavers in, with a very real risk of death. It was a tragic thing, but in her life, she had gotten experienced in navigating caves.
Haunted houses were easier than caves. Caves didn’t care who you were. If you went in, it simply watched as you either lived or died. Didn’t interfere, didn’t care for either outcome. Caves were fundamentally apathetic. But a haunted house, well, a haunted house had hopes and dreams. Haunted houses had history and memory. If you could get to the heart of a haunted house, that made it easy, because then you could figure out what makes the house tick. And most importantly, how to escape the house.
