This is a self-indulgent Watership Down story that blends concepts from the book, movie and 2018 mini series, as well as my own ideas and chatacter moments.
This was heavily inspired by fhe 2018 MS and my desire to rewrite certain plot lines divulged into this! There will be heavy focus on Efrafa in this story, including the suffering the rabbits (doe's in particular) are forced to endure. As well as the characters and their dynamics with one another.

Hazel and Bigwig had taken to whispering with each other out of hearing of the other rabbits, and it didn't have the air of a secret courting, which would have been highly uncharacteristic of either of them, and out of season in any case. Secretive planning, that became less secret by the moment once Hazel elaborated on his idea and Bigwig's voice got louder.

Squirrels, of course, spoke the common hedgerow language of all animals, though with considerably more profanity than most. But despite the gifts of discovered caches and general friendliness or indifference on the part of the rabbits, the down’s squirrels were, quite frankly, pests. They pelted the rabbits with nuts when they went out to silflay. “Yah, groundlings!” they jeered, running down the trunks to shake their tails at their victims before racing back up. “Can’t climb tree, can’t jump-fly, yah!” and off they would go, chasing through the limbs and quarreling amongst themselves all the way.
One of Hazel’s favorite things about living on Watership Down was that there were so few trees, and therefore, so few squirrels.
