"Just leave me alone, James. Go take your incessant talking elsewhere. Not in the mood for your smiling face right now."
Alex's voice was muffled, but it also sounded scratchy. James could tell immediately he was hiding and hurting. Still wasn't a reason for Alex to be so petulant.
"Absolutely not. Get up off that couch, Alex."
"Nope."
"I can make you," James said lacing his voice with a light touch of the steel he occasionally needed to breakthrough to his stubborn partner.
