Summary
Today marked the 5 year anniversary since the Horde had been defeated. Well, defeat might be a bit of an omission. In reality, the Horde crumbled after its leadership never returned from the portal. They never found out Catra’s fate, but considering what was left of Hordak’s body, Adora didn’t think she could stomach the truth. The truth had turned Hordak into an eviscerated pile of sludge that stained the Fright Zone’s floors. However, the people of Etheria didn’t have to live with the truth. For them, it marked the death of a tyrant as well as his second in command. For Adora, she lost her best friend that day, and now people gather in the streets to celebrate their deaths.

“Everything would be so much easier, Catra thought, If I had just stayed.
If I hadn’t left the Horde with Adora that day.
If Adora had never discovered that stupid sword.
Sometimes, it felt as if all decisions ran on a train track of inevitability, and no matter how fast you ran, you would always end up cornered by the thing you ran from. Maybe the princesses were onto something with all that “destiny” shit. Maybe Catra’s “destiny” was to be that one crazy girl, who thought that there was a place in the rebellion for a non-magical horde soldier. Damn, it sounds even more stupid when I think about it.
The princesses wanted sunlight and flowers without the heat and the thorns. Catra was the idiot, not Adora, for thinking this could work. That she could fit in here.

With Glimmer gone, Catra is left stranded on Horde Prime's ship. Forsaken and friendless, she is resigned to accept whatever fate Prime has planned for her, as long as it will keep Adora safe. After all, in the war for Etheria, she knows she doesn't matter. Unfortunately for her, Prime knows that not to be true. But if he wants to lure She-Ra out into the open, he'll first need to bring Catra into the light.
