Summary
The pool looked tempting. Minor problem; she had no swim-wear, had never had the need for it. Aeris glanced back the way they had come. The others were nowhere in sight. The pool looked shallow enough - she would be okay if she could still stand, right? A cloud moved away from the sun, and sweat prickled across her skin. Aeris did not waste another moment. She undressed, folding her clothes in haste and strolled into the water. Oh. She would never have considered this could feel so pleasurable. Such a simple thing, but so relaxing. A splash nearby drew her attention. Tifa was staring at her. She looked away when she met Aeris's eyes and the flower girl could not help but smirk. She crouched and shuffled forward, letting the water cover her shoulders as she moved a little deeper.
Aeris and Tifa split from the rest of the party to wash and cool off.

Summary
Minerva stared down at the black sphere, turning it over and over in her hands. Faint reflections were visible in its shiny surface; she saw herself staring down at the horror she held. There remained the question of the final resting place of this most potent and destructive of spells.
Minerva dwells on what should be done with the Black Materia.

Summary
The knowledge imparted to Aeris by the Planet was still new and curious. It was effortless in an incongruous way compared to how she learnt everything before. A strange alien feeling applied to all information the Planet had provided so far. At present it was not speaking to her per se, rather it was somehow adding to her memories and her skill-sets as she walked North.
The Planet has altered her mind.

Summary
Aeris paused to stare at the growing flowers, eyes flicking between the rows and appraising their growth. Some were almost ready for picking and sale. Most of her customers were the tourists - all amazed that there could be flowers in this land of ice and cold. They marveled at the huge trees when they first arrived, tall pine trees with snow hanging from their branches in clumps. But a natural colour other than brown, green or white? Rare here.
Aeris wakes early to see the dawn.

Summary
As Aeris reached the edge of the forest she again felt a frustrating itch inside her skull. And just like that she knew more than she had a moment before. It would be unwise to take metal any further; the Cetra had little time for the material and its presence might disrupt her task.
Aeris reaches the end of the Sleeping Forest.

Summary
A scrabbling noise beside her distracted Aeris from her thoughts; a hunched figure drew away from her into the meagre shelter of a debris pile. Elmyra had spent a long time impressing upon her how dangerous the slums were and how she had to be careful, no matter how desperate someone might look. But there was something different about the hunched, shivering form nearby. Dark hair dangled in messy strands, obscuring a dirt-streaked face just visible above the thin white blanket the figure was hugging around itself. Even from here Aeris could see it was far too thin to be of any use in the damp air.
Aeris decides to help a stranger on the way home.

Summary
Somewhere in the back of her mind Aeris was faintly aware that the prior Cetra representatives had never formerly rarely fixated so intently on such small sections of the Planet or individual humans as she did. But even if she'd wanted to she could not look away from this; Cloud was racing back across the wasteland that surrounded Midgar, the diminutive form of Marlene resting safely in front of him. Vincent swooped through the air not far behind; his body transfigured into his demonic alternate form as Cid Highwind and remaining members of Avalanche were at that moment hurtling over the sea in the captain's newest airship.
She watched as six warriors attacked the corrupted Bahamut, working together as best they could, each dodging out of the other's way or snatching another from the certain death. They fought with rusted skills; out of practice but old rhythms were quickly returning even as they reached their individual limits. They struggled to keep the summoned creature distracted from Edge's populace, but were barely injuring it in the process; its cries more of annoyance than pain.
Aeris's view of the battle with Bahamut in Edge.

Summary
The Black Mage whispered angrily in the doorway of her chambers; "Jenova is moving again, and we have few defences against her virus. We need to take action."
"We are taking action," the White Mage countered. "We have defensive perimeters just outside of the region she currently inhabits."
"And what of the virus? Are we certain that your magicks can guard against another vector we have not yet seen?" He gazed at her sceptically.
Two thousand years before the events of Final Fantasy VII, the Cetra are in conflict with Jenova.

Summary
That night she dreamed of the church again; but unlike the previous nights she saw it as it had once been. She had almost woken then, a thought bubbling up that she should visit soon anyway, even if the flowers weren't there, before she sank back into slumber. The church was different. Not newer, but less obviously damaged; the massive pool of water was missing, the pews wrecked and damaged by Tifa's fight were still bolted to the splintery wooden floor. And at one end of the church, in front of the altar, was the patch of grass and flowers so lovingly cared for. Streaming sunlight shifted as she watched the serene interior, the flowers wafting gently in a breeze... And then she saw a flash of pink as a girl with a pink ribbon in her hair walked quickly to the flower-bed, a wicker basket hooked over one arm. She admired the flowers for a moment, before crouching beside them, carefully teasing the blossoms up from the soil and placing them in the basket.
It has been a year since Sephiroth's remnants threatened the future of the Planet, and Marlene finds herself dreaming of Aerith's church and the flower garden it used to contain. Gift fic.
