Instead of nostalgia for the Isle, Mal runs away because she's become addicted to magic and fears she'll hurt Ben or her friends. Ben follows her to the Isle and gets himself into trouble, so Mal has to deal with an old enemy she's been trying to forget: Uma.
Freed from the fatal ultimatum of her mother, Mal is left to enjoy the charmed life of the king’s girlfriend—literally, as charms have become her drink of choice and she’s chugging every second just to stay afloat.
