When they aren't there, they're on the road with the caravans, as Lucy supplies anti-feralization medications to settlements all over New California.
When the settlement's leader, Lee Moldaver, turns out to be the woman who broke up her parents' marriage, Lucy doesn't want to take the deal she's offering, but Moldaver claims to know where Lucy's father and brother are.
Despite being wary and suspicious, Lucy starts putting together a caravan to travel north and escort a scientist back to Griffiths. A ghoul who calls himself simply 'Ward', (as in, Howard) comes looking for a job as a caravan guard. He has the most enticing voice Lucy's ever heard... but she's not about to introduce a man who she's in a short-term relationship with to her kid.

It gave Lucy a surprisingly optimistic feeling… she didn't take signs like that so lightly. Coincidences, maybe there had been a few, but she often believed things happened for a reason. She believed that people had their own destinies, though they could rewrite them depending on choice.
The Ghoul appeared amused, leaning a glove upon the pod beside hers as he faced her down. Lucy watched his mouth with fascination as he wetted it ready with its reply, his marred features and cocksure demeanor. "Are you begging me, sweetheart?"

She exhaled, her fingers trailing up the front of his shirt, feeling the steady rise and fall of his chest. “At first.”Cooper made a low sound, almost like a growl, before capturing her mouth in a slow, lingering kiss. He tasted like whiskey and something unmistakably him, and when she melted into him, he deepened it, hands tightening against her.

Lucy, Cooper, Janey, and Dogmeat/Four finally head back home, they see Cooper's base, return to Vault 33, and Lucy is reunited with her family.

Cooper placed Mare’s Leg and his knife down on the ground and kicked them along the metallic surface away from himself, with his hands raised he moved forward, his trusty revolver hidden in the back of his pants, beneath his duster. Cooper slowly walked inside with Dogmeat glued to his hip, he looked up and saw Barbara standing at the top of a set of stairs. She was dressed in one of those damn Vault suits, her hair, done up in a neat coiffe, but now it had a streak of gray, there were a few wrinkles on her face, and her eyes were staring at him with a familiar look of hatred.
He walked about five feet into the room, Cooper’s gaze didn’t leave Barbara. “So, this is one of the ‘Good Vaults,’ huh?” he asked callously, gesturing to the pristine but sterile surroundings.
Barbara’s eyes narrowed; satisfaction filled Cooper knowing he still could get under her skin.
