After the events of Enigma in late July of 1998, Dr. Jackson is forced to flee Earth to escape imprisonment for treason and takes refuge with the Nox. There from Ohper, one of the oldest and wisest of the Nox, he learns of a powerful but shadowy race who are planning the downfall of the Goa'uld. The Nox advise him to take refuge with them so he might find asylum and a way to work towards rescuing his wife.
