“To imprison you with me for the next few weeks,” Childe amusedly adds, the side of his lips lifting. “I hear nothing but reward from that.”
The blessed Sir Childe learns from Kaeya a kind of love that will never leave him.

Kaeya lived his life as normally as he knew how. That was until one day, Dainsleif appeared, delivering a letter from a distant, faraway place. Neat, cursive hand writing greeting him on the letter, Hesperus Alberich it said. The blue seal, the surname, the composed literature it held.
The contents of the letter made him sweat, Kaeya's blood ran cold, his breath hitched as the realization dawned on him. His father, the King of Khaenri'ah has returned. No, he never disappeared in the first place as the letter conveyed. He gulped nervously, looking at Dainsleif unsure.
"Restoration of the homeland begin now." What came out of him. Kaeya trembled.

A princess always needs her knight, and after turning of age, her father, the king, insists on her having a personal knight forever by her side. Though, she doesn't see the need for a knight, Mondstadt is a safe place after all, she chooses her own knight.
As a princess, she's sought after by many suiters, yet for some reason, they all run away from her.
Diluc, the best trained knight the kingdom has to offer. He hates the monarchy but seeks to defend it purely for her.

That's where Kaeya comes in, as the prince visiting with his parents and brother. Their families are allies, and it was finally time for another in-person meeting for discussion after years.
Our princess catches our prince's eye, and he makes it his mission to try and swoon her, as he is also in need of a spouse (unlike his brother, who is past due).
The only problems he faces are the princess' stubbornness, and her first knight's determination to keep her eyes on him and him only.

He was a man of many deeds, but little words. Silence fell loud on his shoulders as he gripped onto a motionless figure, carrying the body with heavy steps out of the bloodied palace walls. The expression on the knight’s face blank. Tears streamed down his cheeks.
“Kaeya”, his shaky voice managed to utter.
