The prophecy will come to pass. This is a certainty.
What's not so certain is when it'll come to pass. And for the SOUL, whom is not interested in the least of watching these teenagers suffer for much longer, it'll go to any lengths to give them some much-needed R&R.
Enter a familiar voice, whom after brief consideration with the SOUL, helps it concoct a plan to delay the continuation by just one day, allowing the heroes to get in said much-needed relaxation on the day of the festival.
The only problem with that is, a pretty severe loophole is needed to stop it in its tracks. And while the SOUL is willing to go to certain lengths to accomplish that...
Kris doesn't know what to make of the familiar-looking monster in the mirror.

The SOUL turns Kris into a monster for 24 hours so they're freed from the role of the Cage and can enjoy the festival with their friends, but unfortunately in the process uncovers some deep-seated traumas

This is an Undertale AU developed and written by me , so here's a brief summary of what happens in this AU after the players/frisk's 18th's genocide run, though this time in the judgement hall everything seemed a bit different like.. some things weren't there when they should've been. Following this during Chara's Confrontation as they were about to press Erase, Frisk pressed reset at the same time going back in time way back, something that shouldn't have happened in the first place that will now forever mess with the game files.

We see for ourselves how this is not that uncommon a behavior, a world similar to this one has the main character be named Kris instead of Frisk. Submerging yourself in the opportunity of this, understanding the lengths to which you may cling onto it, is a fearsome thing.
