Summary
Takumi "Taka" Hidefumi has always been a boy who answers questions the safest way possible.
"I guess I want to be a doctor," was his answer when he was asked what he wanted to be.
"I'm fine," he said when someone asked if he was fine or not.But behind every answer, Taka carried the quiet weight of silence that followed his every move. Each relocation made him more hesitant to build connections. Every new school, every cardboard box, and every goodbye only taught him how to stay distant before anyone could leave first.
Then, on his first day of high school, he meets Daichi, an outgoing student who he calls "Noodles" in his head, and Shirakawa who gently tries to befriend him, contradicting his fear of attachment.
Between memories and newfound warmth, Taka learns how it means to connect. Taka learns how it means to keep going no matter what, when he could have stopped.
Like a semicolon that connects sentences, to keep going when it could have just stopped.
And just then, Taka begins to wonder what it means to truly stay.
