Thomas McCloud is a hired ranch hand on James Brown's ranch since he turned nineteen and his father said he was finally old enough to get off his land. Thomas has a hard time coming to terms with new things on James ranch; the way not everything has to be so inhumanly perfect and the now newly arising feelings deep in his gut for the man just three years older than he was.
