But whatever. He continues reading: It comforts me to know our relationship maintains its integrity. Signed from Lan Xichen. Of course. Jiang Cheng scrutinizes the signature as if he would be able to tell if it lies in truth or forgery. As he scrawls out a return letter—a confirmation of the request, as it would be rude to refuse and he honors his sect’s ties with Gusu Lan— he hopes this trip will not be as uncomfortable as the last.
