Summary
Meet Caedrus: an assassin who deals with depression by snorting drugs and making awful decisions. After murdering some folks in Gilded Vale while high, he decides the best way to assassinate the local lord is to... get himself arrested. Thankfully, his new friends Edér and Aloth show up to save him from both execution and his own terrible life choices. Now he just has to deal with seeing dead people from thousands of years ago, memory gaps courtesy of his gaslighting not-quite-brother Alril, and his persistent habit of turning every situation into an excuse for gallows humor and/or violence.
Features: black humor, bad decisions and worse coping mechanisms, surprisingly wholesome friendships wrapped in a thick layer of sass, and at least one architectural critique of phallic religious symbols.

Summary
Home. The image of Caed Nua, instant and clear in her mind. Always before the word conjured thoughts of a dozen different city streets, other thieves, village hideaways, some a more acceptable answer than others but none feeling a proper fit.
This felt right. The fortress that had been hung around her neck was more crowning jewel than millstone now.

She would make the perfect crowning jewel of your estate. But when you send your finest men to abduct her, the fools get themselves killed.
Whatever is a wealthy and powerful lord to do? Why, the next best thing: kidnap her lover and hold him hostage until she comes to you. It's clever, delightfully wicked, and most importantly? Nothing could possibly go wrong.

Summary
“She is not ‘changing her tactics’,” Durance argued. “Do you not remember her vehement defense of the girl-child in Defiance Bay? And her willingness to lie when even a worthless man’s life was at stake? The Watcher has always walked the path of the most light-- regardless of what shadows it may cast across her face.”
AKA: The Watcher's most staunch supporters begin to question their faith in her after she agrees to a dubious deal. Will she prove them wrong, or will they learn the hard way that their leader's sanity has taken a turn for the worse?

Summary

Summary
"Something Aloth has learned about himself in his 60 years is that he is not...good with feelings. Not that he doesn’t have them, of course, but he finds the whole business of describing them so painfully subjective."
How do you bear a past that follows you everywhere? Aloth has managed by not looking too close, but he's getting tired.
* * * * * *
Aloth is an anxious wizard, Edér is a restless veteran, and, on the watcher's turbulent trek, an unlikely companionship is formed.

Summary
Aloth's mother sits behind him, her hands in his hair, and for once in his life, there is no risk of future hurt. She speaks to him in a calm, lilting voice – of vast and varied histories long passed, of infinite futures to come, of magical theorems that connect their souls through it all. It makes him almost drowsy – and he trained himself out of sleeping too deeply long ago, lest his slumber be interrupted by unwanted attention, but a part of him wonders if he could simply… rest here, and not worry about where he will awaken.
… and then, he notices the peasant woman. She looks ordinary, forgettable in her rumpled clothes and hunched posture. On any other occasion, he wouldn’t pay her a second glance – but his vision ripples, and the image solidifies until he can identify long, stringy hair and shadowed eyes. There’s only one possible explanation for that.
