Summary
On a normal evening in Urzikstan, Alex and Kyle find themselves sitting and talking comfortably like always: both of them being absolutely smitten with the other, but too flustered and wrapped up in their own feelings to notice the other’s. The evening feels normal, both of them entirely unsuspecting that what they are about to do and say under the setting sun will be the greatest choices they will ever make. It’s peaceful, because even if they are both often heartbroken due to their intense longing for the other, they still find so much comfort and gratification from getting to spend time like this. The happiness they feel just from being together is special, even if they yearn for more. They talk, knowing they will be understood and they listen, knowing they will come to know their best friend better and fall for them more. Loving the other just feels right, and they will enjoy their friendship even if they crave more.
But all of their overwhelming affection combined with a well timed change in lighting resulted in Alex blurting out something he never thought he would admit, and Kyle doing something he only ever dreamed about and both of them turning an ordinary evening into the most special one of their lives.

Farah stands in the doorway, and he feels any resolve left in him crumble.

If they succeed, it could save what is left of humanity; if they fail, there will be nothing left to come back from.
