Summary
The Christmas spirit does not find the Flourette bakery. Alice and Esme, two drastically different best friends, by each other's side no matter their differences however, feel suffocated by the city smog and burnt chestnuts roasting over dumpster fires. There is no blame upon the companies putting their employees into overtime, as what better a time to market their products than the season of gifting? Feeling neglected yet feigning some understanding over her boyfriend's inability to spend Christmas together, Alice continues her work at her bakery.
However, Esme thinks Alice only adheres to her militarian rule over her bakery and her own emotions, because she is too afraid to want something special, should she lose it. In lieu of this, Esme drags Alice to her family ranch where the spirit of Christmas is in full swing.
Will she be brave enough to want? To admit she'd also like to wear ugly matching sweaters and hold hands with no worry in the world? The local bookstore's book mender seems to know the answer.
