Summary
Jason’s head breaks the surface of the burning sea and he looks around for somewhere to land. There’s a high red cliff not too far away and he aims himself that direction, speeding towards the solid ground with the unconscious Green Lantern still dangling from his grasp. He lands badly, knees giving way under him as his ring pulses red light once, twice and then goes out, the last of the charge gone.

Sokka wakes up in the Fire Nation after Day of Black Sun only to discover he is five years behind and the war is well past over. There’s some truly amazing plotting going on with how Sokka regains memories and relationships are portrayed. The actual prose is gorgeous, too. Especially when writing memories.
