Raising a hand, he beckoned Dick towards him and delectation filled his veins when his– the alpha smiled, took his hand and kissed it like a damn gentleman before going to him. Jason hid his flushing face so Dick wouldn't see his stupid, lovestruck smile. He didn't expect to be turned around, for Dick to cradle his face with both hands — now bare and warm — and gaze at it quietly, tenderly, even lovingly if Jason permitted himself to hope. He didn't.
Or, Jason unexpectedly goes into heat and has to accept Dick's help in getting somewhere safe. Dick tries to be supportive but can't resist the allure of the subject of his hidden desires. Meanwhile, Jason desperately fights against the hope of becoming something else with the only person he'll ever want.

“Sorry, uh. Congrats!” Tim says, and he means it. He does feel envy churning in his gut, but he also does genuinely want Dick to be happy and right now Dick is glowing radiantly.
There’s a question nagging at the back of Tim’s mind though. “I am surprised though, just ‘cause I thought that you considered Ja--Hood to be a brother. And I thought he and Arsenal were monogamous.”
Dick grins sheepishly. “Yeah, I can understand the confusion. It turns out that the two of them are poly, dating separately. It’s just that neither of them has had anything serious with anyone else since they’ve been together, until now. As for the ‘brother’ thing, uh, I used to call him my brother but I never felt like he was, like, really a *brother*. B is like a father to both of us, but we didn’t grow up together, and it’s not like we’re blood-related. He’s chosen family, not ‘brother-family.’ I mean, obviously, I'm super attracted to him. I really just called him a brother because I thought that’s what B wanted and because it was an excuse I could use to spend time with him.”
Tim nods slowly, pondering Dick’s words. “Do you consider *me* a brother?”

“Batman, ETA.” He grunts into the comm, a last-ditch effort at calming himself down. If he can just reassure himself that they’re coming, that they’ll- he’ll- be there this time, maybe he can calm down enough to stall until they get here.
He doesn’t get an answer before the air suddenly becomes quiet. Too quiet. The gunshots, the yelling, all of it’s stopped, and the only thing Jason can hear right now is his blood rushing loudly in his ears.Fuck.
A few seconds pass, and then there are slow, heavy footsteps headed right towards him. Clunk… Clunk… Clunk… And ain’t this just so fucking familiar, him, frozen, waiting on Batman to save him from death but knowing, increasingly by the second, that he’s not coming. And that Jason’s going to die alone.
The footsteps don’t stop, his comm is devastatingly silent.
Damn. Guess he’ll just have to fight his way out, or die trying.
Not like it’s anything he hasn’t done before.
