“Then what is it?” Pike swallowed thickly. “I’ve covered your tracks for the past eight months. You won’t tell me where you’re going at night, you won’t talk to me about your personal life, Spock’s been on my ass trying to figure out what’s so special about you and why STAR let you take over a team with no prior training. Marcus is breathing down my neck. You gotta give me something here, or it’s going to get messy.”
