He stopped his sentence dead in its tracks after witnessing what Summer did next. The hand on her face seemed to snag against something on her skin. No, he realized a moment later that the snag was her skin. It had somehow got caught underneath her fingernail, and he watched as her entire cheek was stretched out a foot in front of her when she tried to pull her hand away. Even Dakota, Vyncent, and Doug were stunned into silence as she wrestled her other hand around the excess skin until it finally unhooked from her nail and snapped back onto her face like rubber that had been pulled taut.
She met William’s gaze again and forced a laugh, tears visibly clinging to her eyelashes. “You know, I think I’m just going to go find a bathroom! Ha ha! Yeah, I— I’ll be back.”William makes a mistake and apologizes, realizing that he has a lot more in common with Summer than he thought
