“I think Jos Buttler is dating our keeper,” Kane mutters to Adam, Marcus and Coults.
Unfortunately for him, the general hum of noise in the dressing room falling and the music pausing between songs coincides and his sullen words are clear to the entire room.
The entire team is staring at him.
He falters.

Kez has known Jos since his first year at Hogwarts, so when they both chose cricket over quidditch - much to the dismay of everyone who hoped they'd play for England together - and end up in their respective national teams in the non-magic world, they only have each other if anything goes wrong.
Or, the one where Kez might be magical, gets sick, and manages to convince everyone he's dating Jos Buttler all before noon. Oh, and he's in love with Kane, but he's ignoring that. Which is why his magic is acting up and he's benched.
(Kane just thinks it's a miracle he hasn't punched Jos Buttler in his stupid pretty face for simply existing.)

Josh snorts. “You mean you didn’t hear it from him? Bloody likely, that.”
“I never heard it from you.”
“Pat.”
A sigh. “Why are you doing this? You told him you feel nothing for him, nothing, Josh. Why lie to his face?”
Look at me. Look at me and tell me you feel nothing, Mitch had said.
And Josh had.
Pat’s eyes are pleading, deep blue and questioning, confused. Guilt crawls up Josh’s throat, fluttering there like a hummingbird’s wings. He looks away from his best mate’s face and down at the hands he had subconsciously curled into his pants.
“Doesn’t matter,” he mutters.

Or, Josh lies to Mitch about his feelings for him because he's terrified he isn't good enough, Pat walks a fine line between his two best mates, and JL really thinks he knows but he really doesn't.
