“Could you come with me to the zoo today?” Grayson asks, dropping the amused expression for a second to take a serious one, as if a request to visit the zoo is the most important thing in the world.
Damian debates in his head for a second, “What’s in it for me?”
Grayson narrows his eyes like he does when he’s looking at a case file, “Does there need to be something in it for you?”
“Ideally,” Damian says, shrugging his shoulders.
“Damian, not everything has to be a transaction,” Grayson says, his shoulders drooping for a millisecond and an uncharacteristic edge of frustration in his voice.
Or: Damian meets Zitka and maybe sees a new side to one Dick Grayson. -

Summary
Damian Wayne has been raised in a world where debts must be paid, alliances are transactional, and survival is never free. So when Jason Todd saves his life on a mission—dragging him out of a collapsing building moments before it exploded—Damian is convinced he now owes Jason a life-debt. Jason, amused at first, watches as Damian spirals into an increasingly absurd campaign of “repayment”: everything from delivering him fresh-pressed coffee at dawn to offering him the title of “next in line for the Demon’s Head.” But when Damian’s antics take a dangerous turn, Jason finally loses his cool and forces the kid to confront the truth: family isn’t about debt—it’s about choice.
