Summary

Before heading to the castle to face off against Ganon, Link stops to rest at his house in Hateno, but familiar memories creep up on him with the shadows of the night. Who was he before the Calamity, and how different is he now when he's left to fail or succeed entirely by his own efforts?

“Zelda?” he repeated. “What is it?” This was something bad, this was something terrible. But why had Impa only addressed the letter to him? Was it something she didn’t want Zelda to know?
“Link, I…” Zelda looked at the letter again. Her eyes flashed with utter fury. “There is- something’s happened. A family has arrived in Kakariko, from Lurelin. They asked Impa for your whereabouts.”
“Oh,” Link said. “Is that all? Do they need help?”
Zelda took a deep breath and put the letter down. She took Link’s hands.
“Link, darling,” she said, much softer now, as if trying not to spook him. “Their matriarch claims to be Aryll.”

One hundred years ago, unknown to everyone, Aryll survived the Calamity. Unknown to her, Link was brought back from the dead.
Now, with Ganon gone and news of Link and Zelda's survival spreading through Hyrule, Aryll goes in search of her big brother alongside her family. But how to prove herself? How to confirm that she's exactly who she says she is?
Or: Aryll lived. Link lived. After one hundred years, it's time to reunite.

They had a plan. Awaken Divine Beasts. Take control of all the old Sheikah Tech. Train and train until Ganon arrived, at which point they would stop him. The plan failed. Mipha fell first, ice crawling through her veins. Then Daruk, melting in the heat that first caused his blood to boil. Urbosa was next, falling when the electricity became to much, but still fighting and piloting her corpse for about a month before it rotted away. Revali fell last, soon after Urbosa's true death, the air ripped out of his lungs, and his blessing bestowed upon an old friend. They say that Link fell next, then was Zelda's eternal sacrifice. Except, the thing is, Link fell first, but not from life, instead from grace.

Summary
Link Wilder was considered to be "perfect" by many of his peers. He was talented, smart, handy with a sword, wont for nothing, and on his way to becoming a knight in the king's royal guard, just like his father. He had things easy.
Well, mostly easy, that was. Easy, until you looked a little closer. Until you spotted the faded bruises pockmarking his skin, or the eight-strong soulmark wrapping around his left wrist, so much longer than the two and, very rarely, three-strong of everyone else's. Until you saw the dull, defeated look in his eye, and the way he kept quiet unless somebody addressed him. It made those who knew him wonder.
Was Link Wilder truly as perfect as everyone claimed?Or
Where Wild struggles to meet his father's high expectations for him while also learning that, after years of being alone, he's actually intrinsically bonded to eight beloved soulmates who all just so happen to have the same first name as him. What does it mean to raise a child you know will fight the Calamity? What would you do to see them survive? And what are the unforeseen consequences of best intentions?
A look at the life of Hero and Princess from the perspective of family and friends, of Link and Zelda trying and learning to cope with destiny and one another. And how, when Time resets with a tiny Guardian travelling back to prevent the Calamity, a new meeting and new circumstances can mean a whole new relationship for Hero and Princess, a new future for the Champions.
(Revali/Link in chapter 1 but you have to squint a bit; more in chapter 2, I promise)
