Summary
Din’s eyes come to rest on the weapons rack--specifically the ice axes placed on it. He recalls how menacingly the light from the holos flashed off them as Corin Valentis cut through each 'attacker'.
"Ah, this is about the boy from District 2.” Liita tilts her head and frowns. “Pretty face, strong body--I may not be into that, but I can see how one might be attracted to him.” She shrugs.
Din crosses his arms defensively. “I’m not...attracted to him.”
She wears a small, knowing smirk. “Never said you were.”
He scowls and walks towards the next training station. “And he’s not that pretty.”
Liita snorts. “You’re a terrible liar.”
“Okay, so he’s pretty. Whatever. But he’s also dangerous.”
“Careers always are," she counters. "Your point?”
“This guy--he’s more than dangerous, he’s--”
“As psycho as a sith with a saber?” Liita supplies.
“Exactly.” Din halts at the painting station where the Stray is drawing with a stubby, green finger.
“Look, the Plan doesn’t involve hunting Careers down. Our orders were to--” Now the girl stops to stare at the child. Realization dawns on her face.
Din doesn’t take his eyes off the child. “You have your orders. I have mine.”
