Summary
Jaime has long imagined a pack breaking through the hunters' defenses, freeing the wolves and ending the hunters' quest for blood.
As a child, he'd hoped they'd be merciful enough to set him free, too.
When wolves finally do arrive, he only dares to wish for a quick death. He should have known he wouldn't be so lucky.
Dimitri and his pack are grappling with the loss of two of their mates and resent their Alpha's choice to put the hunters' mage to use instead of kill him.
But the mage doesn't turn out to be what they expect, and the pack isn't out of the woods yet either.
