Summary
Yunmeng Jiang is housing a retinue from Qinghe, here on diplomatic grounds. Among the people gathered here is Sect Leader Nie. Maybe that’s the reason why Jiang Cheng is restless - he can never keep himself still around that man.
Jiang Cheng feels so stupid to act this way - as if wartime flings aren’t just a thing that happen sometimes - but how can he help it, when the last time they’d met, all those months ago during the Sunshot Campaign, Nie Mingjue had pressed kiss after aching kiss to his mouth, to his neck, to his shoulders?
Jiang Cheng bites his lip and breathes out hard through his nose. He needs to work off some of this energy, before it comes back to bite him in the ass. Before he starts expecting things that weren’t meant for him in the first place.

Summary
It’s easy to get lost in Wei Wuxian’s and Nie Huaisang’s shenanigans and for a while Jiang Cheng even forgets about the phone call.
At least until Wei Wuxian starts to talk about all the classes he’s going to attend next year and Nie Huaisang chimes in with his own classes of choice and Nie Mingjue even encourages him to take more classes if he thinks he can handle it, and Jiang Cheng has to get out of there.
All this talk just makes him realize that he won’t be a part of it, will no longer be with them during their daily life and it feels like it twists a knife in Jiang Cheng’s chest.
He doesn’t know what he’s going to do, but he knows he cannot stay here.

He reaches for his phone, his first instinct to call Nie Mingjue, but then he remembers that he is on a work thing this evening. Jiang Cheng debates calling Nie Huaisang or Mo Xuanyu, but they are with Nie Mingjue—Nie Huaisang in whatever capacity he holds at Nie Corps and Mo Xuanyu as his boyfriend—and so those two are not an option either.
Jiang Cheng briefly thinks about calling Jiang Yanli or Wei Wuxian, but he doesn’t want to worry or disturb their evening, so in the end Jiang Cheng calls for a didi.
He can make it to the hospital by himself. It wouldn’t be the first time.

Jiang Cheng is a professional through and through but there’s a part of him that went into full panic mode when Nie Mingjue asked him to help him, because Nie Mingjue is not supposed to know about Jiang Cheng’s work.
Jiang Cheng made it a point to keep it as far away from him as possible, knowing damn well that Nie Mingjue would hate him should he ever find out about his line of work, and Jiang Cheng couldn’t stand that.
