She had gotten these “lightning strikes” since as long as she could remember, but still didn’t really know what they meant. When she finally worked up the courage to ask, her mother had gently suggested that maybe that’s just how it felt to Ivy to develop a crush. It had made sense at the time, even if none of the other girls around her knew what she was talking about. Maybe Ivy just felt it differently - that was a thing, she was pretty sure. Maybe other girls got crushes like cotton candy or starlight or the first time going out with a new outfit on, but maybe Ivy wasn’t like other girls. Maybe she got crushes like lightning strikes.
