Summary
When Sora had shown Riku his hairless armpits, the teasing quickly turned to captivation and Riku only became more entranced when Sora got hair in other places, always telling Riku way too much about where and how it made him feel and grabbing Riku’s hand to push his fingers against buttery soft, freshly shaven skin. What was it like to feel that way again—to have the biggest concerns in their lives be body hair and shaving instead of global warming or past-due rent or how they had grown apart?
Riku and Sora's long-term friendship crumbled under the weight of unrequited love, and a decade of silence between them has forced their narratives into opposing directions. When finally reunited in rural Japan during the holidays, Riku thought the romantic snowy landscape would provide an idealized backdrop for their paths to fully merge again, but the rolling hills of the countryside are much steeper than either could've anticipated.
