Logan Sanders is no stranger to loneliness.
In fact, they're close acquaintances. It eats away at his insides, threatening to break him apart from the core of his being. It's illogical, of course he is never ACTUALLY alone- but despite that, the gnawing ache in his chest is present even when he is in a room full of people, his "family," and worsens every time he opens his mouth to speak and provide his own input just to be shot down.
It makes him angry, how much the hurt gets to him.
So angry and hurt he wished he couldn't feel anything at all.
What happens when he reaches his breaking point? What will happen when that loneliness consumes him whole, only to be replaced by rage? What happens when that rage is replaced by apathy?

Summary
For Virgil, anxiety takes the form of shadowy creatures that threaten to corrupt him. He's trapped in a cruel choice: either to keep all the anxiety away from Thomas and be consumed by it himself, or to let it build up and trigger a panic attack in Thomas. He always chooses to suffer the shadows rather than let Thomas get hurt.

Virgil was a fairly solitary person outside of his tiny friends and the occasional necessary interaction with other fae beings, notably the ones with whom he traded his expertly woven and hand-dyed spider silk cloth. He generally avoided humans as a rule; why voluntarily put yourself among people who tended to shriek and yell and throw things or attack at the sight of you? But when a human kit barely old enough to walk stumbles through the webs around his clearing one cold winter morning, well, Virgil was hardly going to leave the poor thing to freeze to death. Now if only people would stop assuming he wanted to eat it!
Or, Arachne!Virgil adopts a human toddler, much to the confusion of his faerie neighbors.

Logan is getting married, and to no-one’s surprise it’s to the other smartest kid from their school. …well, to no one else’s surprise but Virgil’s. Maybe it was stupid of him to think there was anything between them. That maybe the token straight guy of their group, with his gentle looks and caring gestures towards Virgil, would turn out to be gay too.

A wine tasting event to get closer to the pharmaceutical CEO Virgil was hired to investigate accidentally leads him much, much closer than he anticipated, not that Virgil’s complaining. Roman is key to getting the information his employer asked for, and Virgil is willing to do whatever it takes to get it. Even if it means acting like their arrangement means something to him.
“The only thing he’s good for is my bank account. He doesn’t mean anything more to me than what he can provide. He’s useful for getting the information I need, and although our relationship has other benefits, neither of us is deluded into believing it means anything other than two people taking what they want from each other.”
Virgil’s never let feelings get in the way of his work, and he doesn’t plan to start now. Even with his best friend’s disapproval, even if it means breaking Romans’ heart.
