Summary
A simple family meeting, turned into a nightmare.
Ivanya Sokolov found himself framed and shoved into the PlanetCrafter program with hardly any idea what to do- but at least terraforming was his specialty as a scientist.
He knows the laws of Old Terra won't help him here, and he'll have to make his own way. But even beyond his own situation, nothing is as it seems.

Summary
I had never lived anywhere other than Earth, not like it was the green jewel it used to be, but the sight of something so alien was jarring. I wondered if the first Martian settlers had felt the same way when they arrived on that once barren planet. Did they experience a visceral feeling of otherness as they peered on a planet that was not meant for them, or a thrill of excitement that they were going to bend it to their needs? It likely was the latter, since they actually wanted to go to there.
They also could potentially leave.
The corpos didn’t bother giving me too many specifics about the planet. Just the basics. Almost no atmosphere, plenty of ice at the polls, the basic metals detected at the surface, and close enough to the host star to not be frozen solid during the day. I’m sure the initial survey was far more detailed, but I wasn’t on the need-to-know list, despite being the only human who actually needed to know.
They didn’t even give me a name. Just called it “the planet”.
I probably should give it one, since I’m going to be living there from now on.
Maybe if I survive this first week I will.
