Chuuya rolled his eyes. For someone so depressed, the idiot really did seem to have an ego the size of Everest.
“When you left the mafia.” He said after a moment. “I would’ve left with you. I just thought you should know.”

Dazai didn’t know what he’d been expecting, but it certainly wasn’t that.
“Oh.” He said, because what else was there to say?

When Akutagawa had dismembered two of his limbs and bit his neck to feed on his blood, Atsushi knew he couldn’t let the opportunity go to waste. Through it all, the fight against Fukuchi, Akutagawa’s supposed death, and his sudden return as a vampire, Atsushi realized that if the mafioso had somehow returned from the afterlife after having his throat slit open, then the possibility for him to revert to his normal-citizen-mafioso being was completely within reach. Akutagawa was his partner. When Fukuchi was about to finish him off, it was Akutagawa who had come to his aid, saving Atsushi not only from their enemy but from succumbing to the terror of being alone. Whenever it truly mattered, Akutagawa was the one who had his back.
How, then, could Atsushi leave him alone now?

Osamu Dazai was 14 years old when he found himself involved in the dark world of the mafia, a victim of the demon like Ōgai Mori. He managed to escape that hell and join the Armed Detective Agency... Until he was forced to return.
After the conflict of Decay of the Angel, the Agency is in the process of reconstruction, but the Port Mafia is demanding their part of the deal: a member of the Agency will have to join them.
Dazai is the chosen one, and what begins as another plan to help the Agency slowly leads to the resurfacing of the darkest part of himself, corrupting him and turning him once again into what he was always meant to be: the demon prodigy.

The sallowness of his skin against Chuuya’s own skin, stained gray with makeup washed out under water. The jolty, shivering movement of his throat against Chuuya’s shoulder. The deep, heavy breaths Dazai is taking to stay awake. Chuuya can almost hear him counting down the seconds in his head- he wishes he’d stop. All these small things he takes in before this bubble vanishes, before they step out and deal with what’s waiting for them outside.
Chuuya comes to Dazai's rescue again. He thinks he always might.
