Summary
They’ve been each other’s person since they were nine years old—emotionally married long before they were legally married at nineteen. Ari grew up in a wolf war and froze herself at fifteen the day she decided Rumi was “off-limits”: sexually naive, first-base-only, all instinct and no practice, but emotionally and intellectually sharp, fiercely loyal, and stupidly in love.
Rumi grew up in the idol industry and learned everything about sex except how to feel safe during it: sexually aware, emotionally mature, brave, gentle, and scarred by years of being marketed, watched, and threatened while technically still a virgin. She knows exactly how ugly human desire can get; Ari doesn’t.
Now, at nineteen-twenty, they are finally allowed to touch in the way they’ve both wanted for years—and they have to build that from where Ari left herself at fifteen: girlfriend first, everything else second. These are the nights and mornings where they negotiate bodies, history, industry damage, wolf biology and first times, and slowly teach each other that “married” doesn’t mean “owed,” and that Rumi’s body is not a product and Ari’s wolf is not a bomb.
