Helly shakes her head back and forth rapidly, parting her lips silently as she tries to dispel the tears from her eyes and gather her thoughts. “She… she doesn’t have the right to take my identity.” She sounds despondent, like her spirit has been completely drained. Helena took everything from her, Helly realizes, and she chews on the thought until her body begins to tremble.
Mark glances over at Helly, and the anger that was once present is now erased from his expression. He looks at her with pity now, because he knows firsthand that Helena took more than just Helly’s identity. He gulps, quickly realizing that Helly is already aware of this heinous truth.

It takes all of five minutes for Mark to finish his meal, and another three minutes before he’s motioning to her nearly untouched plate. “Are you gonna finish that?” He asks shamelessly.
For some mysterious reason, this brings a smile to Helena’s face. There’s a level of domesticity involved with eating at a restaurant with someone like this, a level of intimacy that’s required to feel comfortable with asking someone to share their food. Mark doesn’t know her out here, but they still manage to share some kind of connection.

Helly is soft where Helena is sharp. When Helly’s eyes inflate they shine, glistening in the harsh LEDs of the office. Helena’s eyes were narrow and searching, the light never quite managing to capture the same glow.
But Helena was funny, he remembers laughing around the campfire and stealing glances only to find her already looking at him. Searching, he thinks. He doesn’t know what she was hoping to find.
OR: Mark struggles to deal with reintegration and the aftermath of the ORTBO.

Memories just out of reach flashed before him. It was a work thing. He needed to be here to meet with someone.
He looked around the restaurant until he caught a flash of fiery red hair.
Mark turned his head back to the front of the diner, and suddenly, he wasn’t there anymore.
He was lying down cradling the same owner of that fiery red hair. She smiled at him. A soft smile that made him feel like they were the only two people in the world. That everything he’s ever been through was worth it. She was the stars, and he was the lonely sailor who got the pleasure to navigate with them. All of the solitude was drowned out by her bright light. All of the pain he carried deep down was snuffed out by her brilliance and warmth.
And then that moment was gone, and all he was left with was the eyes of a cold, calculated, and unrecognisable woman.
Mark quickly darted his gaze away. He felt as if he looked at her too much he might combust.

Mark finally looks up at her, something straining at his face. His eyes are tinged red, wet. The muscle in his jaw pulls, twitches. He opens his mouth. Closes it.
“Worse,” he chokes out.
A part of her already knows it's true. "Oh god," Helly says.
