“How’s she been doing?” Wynonna asked, nursing a mug eggnog close to her chest as Nicole reappeared from inside the homestead, joining her best friend on the wicker chests set up on the homestead’s porch. Steam rose from the brunette’s mug as she twisted away from staring at the silhouette of her barn, raising an eyebrow expectantly at the redhead.
“There are a few occasional nights where she wakes up because she said Willa was looming over me with a bloody knife,” Nicole answered, blowing on her own mug of eggnog as the brunette sat across from her kicked her feet up on the table. “The doctor has changed her pills a few times and the latest ones seem to be working well.”
Wynonna nodded, adjusting the handmade Christmas helper badge Wrenly and Bethany had made for her. “I hope things work out for you and babygirl. I knew she was suffering with an internal crisis but I felt great sympathy for you during the divorce, Haught. It wasn’t easy for you.”
“I got her back,” the sheriff drawled, sipping on her eggnog. “That’s me happy. It’s all I need to finally be happy ever after. Maybe time just wasn’t ready for the first chance.”

Summary
Nicole is working another long shift at the bookstore when she sees a customer walk in just before close. Annoyed at first, she soon meets the stranger, Waverly, and the two continue to bump into each other the next few days, proving that fate is working in their favor.
Nicole and Waverly both become quick friends, both not realizing the other is flirting with them, and continue to seek each other out in the huge city that is New York.
