See, Nigella had a problem.
All in all, it was nothing that couldn’t be solved with a thorough discussion with her lovely wife. Truly a matter of two minutes and a nice back massage with the aromatized lavender oil Cassie loved so much. Something so trivial it would’ve inevitably fixed itself at some point, even without her studs-up tackle. A thing so idiotic and simplistic it could be waited out easily.
Cassiopeia was observant and careful and surely she would’ve noticed her beloved’s sudden discomfort, if she wasn’t so busy with 500-in-50. Or cracking lyctorhood, which was a beast so massive and snarling Nigella couldn’t blame her for wanting capable assistance, and spending days at a time with aforementioned capable assistance hunched over theorems and ‘willing’ subjects – solely for the sake of Emperor John Gaius, surely.
Or that’s what she had been telling herself for the past two months. The problem had started much earlier, in truth. But only recently had Nigella started worrying her head over it.
