FireIt's been 100 years since the devastating event of the Air Nation genocide, 100 years since the Air Avatar Tenzin died trying to save the Airbenders, and 100 years since the world completely changed. The Avatar Cycle moved on to Water then Earth, then 14 years ago the Avatar disappeared, nowhere to be found. But I still believe that the Avatar is somewhere out there, and I know they can save the world.
The Fire Nation has been searching for the Avatar for 14 years until that is when Crown Prince Zuko water-bends. Freshly burnt Prince Zuko is thrown in a cell under the Palace. Tortured almost to death he teaches himself to blood-bend, 2 years later he is ready to escape, but before he can do that, he is broken out by someone - a water-bending someone.

Zuko does not get away after being captured at the North Pole. Being the only prisoner captured, and with his status in the Fire Nation gives the Northern Water Tribe a dilemma, what to do with their firebending prisoner? Luckily Yue suggests that since he did save the Moon Spirit's life that the spirits should decide. Therefore a meeting with the spirits is arranged and Zuko is sent into the spirit world.

An Alternative Universe where Zuko is sent to the StarWars Universe by the spirits and he is imprisoned in the Narkina V Imperial Factory Facility and has plenty of time to dwell on his past and future, with some help from the other prisoners. Hakoda ends up a prisoner of Zhao on his ship mid Book 1 (circa the episode Bato of the Water Tribe) and ends up with an unlikely cellmate, Zuko. Zhao is an absolute vile creep towards Zuko, which sets off all of Hakoda's parental alarm bells. Zhao has his way with Zuko and Hakoda does his best to pick up the pieces.
Its me mashing together tropes I like : Zuko getting more parental figures, Zhao being a vile cockroach of a man, Hakoda in general.
I've seen similar plots with Zhao imprisoning Zuko and Sokka, and I've seen Hakoda and Zuko trapped together, but not the combination. -
