Summary
Blood is thicker than water or so they say, especially when its the blood of Hatred flowing through your veins, but we are who we choose to be, not what our parents would demand we become. Rathma abandoned his ancient haunt of Kasama, and has spent his recent years traveling Sanctuary with only the Zann Esu sorceress, Ashe, as his companion. Together, they've worked to protect the Balance that even decades after Malthael's defeat is still offkilter. Yet, Inarius' zealots descend deeper into madness with every passing day, and Lilith's return only promises to wash a fresh wave of chaos over Sanctuary. Fully believing that if you want something done right, you do it yourself, Rathma and Ashe resolve to take matters into their own hands, but allies are a rarity in such troubled days, and allies they can trust may be a luxury they cannot afford. Neither Lilith nor Inarius have any mercy to spare for those who would stand against them, but powers far more devious and dangerous than either of them could hope to be lurk in the shadows, and one of them sets their eyes on Ashe, seeing what few others do: what the sorceress truly is, and what she might become.

Summary
The light of the High Heavens died, Malthael extinguished it.
Now the place of the faith is hollow, the church of Zakarum scurries to find new dogmas to fill the void and remain in control. But the people of Sanctuary aren’t listening, the glimmer of a distant light isn’t catching their eyes anymore, the soft-spoken words of virtue aren’t ringing any grand life meaning anymore.
Betrayed and desperate for meaning, the humans return to the ancient ways of witchcraft, magic and ancient folklore to build a new world from the ashes.
This new feverish faith is set into motion by a lone monk’s incredible miracles that turn beast to pet, old to young.
Tyrael watches the world turning and can’t shake the thought that everything seems to be moving in an unnatural symmetry, like someone is controlling how everyone thinks, acts and believes.
A lone monk performing miracles after the world fell into ruin feels too perfect, too timed. Tyrael’s intuition tells him it’s a crude trap set in motion by someone greater who can’t be comprehended with the limited understanding gossips and legends offer.
With the goal to unmask the prophet Tyrael travels East, where it all began. -

“Dad, what are you doing?” The twins asked at the same time, they came to look at the dark mush dust their father was grinding with circular motions. At the same time, Letita lost interest in marveling at the green wheat.
“I’m doing the preparations for spring. I just began to craft a potion to ward off the snakes and insects.”
“You’re a little bit too late dad, spring already came, the snow melted a while ago and the grass is already green.” Letitia stared confused at her father who kept on grinding some roots in the already filled mortar.
“Spring comes not after the snow has melted, nor with the first flowers, but with the awakening of insects which takes place right before the Vernal Equinox when night and day reach the same length. After the last snow melts and the winds get warmer the earth prepares to be reborn in a new cycle again. The insects and snakes come out of their holes from under the earth, awaken by the first spring storms. Naturally, when they wake up from their slumber, they seek out food. Every year, during the awakening of insects, we have to be careful not to let snakes enter the barns or the home. They will bite us and our animals while we sleep and suck our blood.”

You slowly walked around the room noticing the beautiful stained-glass windows, scenes of people praying to angels. You frowned as the images triggered your memory, “Isn’t Belial an ancient demon or something?” you asked, snorting in ridicule. Suddenly your back hit the nearest wall as Sharael slammed you against it holding you still by your throat.
His eyes flashed with anger as he sneered at you. “What do you know of him?”
You summoned as much strength and bravery as you could muster and…squeaked. “Nothing, I just remember the name from a religious studies course.” You somehow managed to stutter as you tried to pull his hand off with your fingers.
“Sharael! Let her go!” commanded Diadra. He reluctantly loosened his grip but leaned in closer. You coughed as the pressure lessened.
“It is unwise to utter names of which you claim to not know or understand,” he stated and then walked back towards his scythe, eyes cold and distant once again.

Looking at your fellow prisoners you wondered who they would sacrifice first. Your speculation was ended as Elias entered and the room fell silent. The look on his face as he beheld his Lorath, former mentor, caged like an animal, was nothing short of triumphant.
“Glory to the Mother!”
His shout was echoed by the cultists, though it didn’t escape your attention that Lilith’s expression twisted into something resembling distaste. Elias didn’t see, by the time he looked in her direction her expression had smoothed again into an indifferent mask. He continued to speak to his rapt audience, oblivious to her displeasure.

After the Reign of Enmity was put to an end, Lilith and Inarius found themselves sentenced to live under the same roof in Sanctuary, trapped in unaging and undying mortal shells with their powers sealed, under the watchful eyes of the Nephalem, the High Heavens and their own ungrateful wretch of a son.
Banishment into the Void by the hands of her own previous mate and eternal suffering under his once love's father had never felt a more desirable punishment.
