Briefly, Reeve sees his mother’s wrinkled hands when he looks down at the cutting board. Breathing in deeply, the fishy scent of finished stew fills his nostrils, despite only having water boiling and the fish still in the larder.
When he blinks again, they’re gone, replaced by his own scarred ones. The sound of a rolling boil echoes in his ears and he quickly dumps the cut and peeled potatoes into the pot, wincing as the hot water hits the back of his hand.
Vincent is at Reeve’s side in an instant, as if he’d teleported across the room.
“Are you hurt?”
Reeve shakes his head sheepishly. “I’m fine.”
When Vincent returns from an unsuccessful WRO mission, Reeve cooks Vincent a meal. Written for free day of FFVII Rarepair Week.

Cloud is the most popular performer and sought-after host at Sector 6's Honeybee Inn, a famous cabaret and brothel in the Wall Market neighborhood. “I doubt that I’ll ever return to this place,” Chadley says. He looks around Reeve’s office. Something resembling a pout appears on his face. It’s as close to a human expression as Reeve has seen him make.
“Still, I must say, of all of the rooms in this building, this one was my favourite.”
By nature, Reeve is not a sarcastic person, but even he bites his tongue to keep himself from saying something about the various robot parts for Cait Sith stuffed under his desk, the looming stacks of paperwork making up a city rebuilding plan that will never be used, or the fact that his office doesn’t even have a proper door if Reeve wants privacy.
It’s less of an office and more of a cage, partially-built by his own stupidity.
