Shin turns away from Ahsoka Tano’s outstretched hand and flees. She is the enemy. Ezra Bridger is the enemy. Sabine Wren is the enemy. At best, they would take her captive; at worst, her life would be forfeit. They had no incentive to ‘help’ her at all. She has done nothing to endear herself to them - in fact, she had even come close to killing one of their number. Shin will not let herself fall into their trap.
But if they had truly wanted her dead, why not chase after her? Better yet, why had Tano not already cut her down? As much as Shin loathes to admit it, the Togruta outclasses her in every way imaginable.
Shin has no answer. She does not let herself think that the former Jedi was being sincere, and that she turned away from an alternative to this crushing loneliness for no reason.
She does not let herself think at all, for she fears that she will break if she does. However, she cannot stop the thoughts as they surge forth, as if from a burst dam.
She hates this. She hates that she ran. She hates that Tano stopped Sabine from running after her. She hates the disappointed look in Sabine’s eyes, and she hates that she thinks about the Mandalorian at all.

Shifting so their head could rest on her shoulder, Sabine smirked at the way the cold beskar stung at their cheek and their face contorted in annoyance. “Take that off and maybe I’ll tell you.”
“Well that’s a poor excuse to get me out of my armor.” She laughed, then, she rotated just enough, reaching her arm out to tug the blonde until she shifted. The crook of her nose fit perfectly in the space between her pauldron and chest plate. Sabine felt the deep inhale as they settled, forehead resting snuggly in her shoulder, and her hand even going so far as to wind around the Mandalorian’s waist.
“You’re just built to be uncomfortable and annoying, aren’t you.”

Shin’s attention is now fully fixed on Thrawn, waiting for him to say something else, perhaps why this is necessary. Baylan nods, and turns towards the doorway inside. Shin assumes he is going to prepare himself for the journey ahead, but she can’t bring herself to move with him yet. She does not understand why Thrawn is set on destroying Wren and/or Bridger if they play such a small part in his mission. Besides, Peridia having so little to offer, she doesn’t imagine the rebels would get very far on their own anyway.
“It does not take Jedi mind tricks to sense you are hesitant, young one.” His voice has turned hard. “You will go after them. When you have located them, send through the coordinates and await my order.”

Summary
After everything that happened in Peridea everyone is back in the main galaxy. Shin faces trial for the crimes she committed in what feels like a distant life now- expecting the new republic to lock her up and throw away the key. What she didn't expect was that her new allies(?) had influence and what they deemed a mercy might be even worse than she had expected.
Sabine had hoped that after reaching the known galaxy she could leave behind the disastrous memory of the trip back. She wanted nothing more than to move forward with her life, however, she and Ahsoka had been given a new objective by the new republic; to rehabilitate the Shin.

Every inch of the tiny sketchbook she’d shoved in her bag was covered, and her one pencil was now a stub. If she scratched any more loth-cats into the T-6’s walls, Ahsoka would kick her out. The pigments the Noti used as a kind-of paint barely dented her craving. She needed to sketch. She needed charcoal, and real paper. She needed to draw shadow and light, emotion, depth. She needed an out.
Lately she had resorted to scribbling in the dirt with sticks, like a child. It was better than nothing. And that’s where Ahsoka found her that morning, sitting just outside the Noti camp, making lines in the dark, dusty soil.

It's been three months since Sabine set out to find Ezra. For the past four weeks, she's been stuck in Peridia with Ahsoka and some volunteer rebels from Heras group.
