“Yeah, of course I do,” Fred says, a little annoyed—with himself or the question, he couldn’t say. “Of course I want to fuck the most beautiful man I’ve ever seen who keeps slapping my arse and calling me babe and putting himself right up in my personal space.”
And Sam is in his personal space. Fred can hardly go a day now without Sam finding a way to slip in so close that even a man flirting with him at a bar would think it was a little excessive. But Sam is right there, all brown eyes and soft lips and the most beautiful smile Fred has ever seen. Fred wants him so badly.
Lulu nods in understanding. “He is tragically hot.”

“What’s all this?” Fred says, stopping at the threshold to his room, filled with lit candles, soft music and his boyfriend honest-to-god sitting on his bed with a rose between his teeth.
Sam takes the rose out and grins. “A special night for a special boy.”
Fred shakes his head in confusion. “Is it our anniversary…?” He knows it isn’t, but he can’t think what else would merit this kind of elaborate show. Sam has turned out to be a surprisingly good boyfriend, once he redirected all his energy from repressing his queerness into doting on Fred. But still, the rose is above and beyond for him.
“Nope, that’s not till next month.” Sam hops up, leaving the rose behind on the bed. He grabs Fred firmly by the hips and kisses him. “I know you have your pitch tomorrow and I know you’re close to wetting yourself and—“ he holds up a finger in protest when Fred tries to talk—“I know I’m the reason the last one went tits up, so.” He gestures at nothing with a flourish. “We are going to have one wild night to take your mind off it so that tomorrow you can wake up ready to blow their tiny little minds."
Fred gets a second chance at a big pitch. Sam's determined not to muck it up this time. -
