Summary
His waking hours were spent vacillating between ecstatic mania and despair. The sight of a small bird had him physically jumping up and down, grabbing his pillow to muffled his ecstatic scream into it — it was perfect, small and soft and singing in a beautiful way, utterly untarnished, the world was a wonderful place and that simple glowing fact left him screaming again, this time with a sudden clawing grief. And then he passed out, there on the floor, dizzy without enough air in his lungs.
