Summary
Viktor is a resourceful, inquisitive child, too smart for his age-and yet he believes Singed's story that his ears turn red when he lies. An innocent little lie slipped into their daily lives.
It's a game, a silent sweetness between them. A way of making up for what they don't yet know how to say to each other.
And while Viktor learns to lie carefully, Singed realizes that he's not lying at all. Not when he whispers, in the silence of a night, a truth that Viktor won't hear.
