It’s difficult to put a word to it, as there’s no tangible way to describe the manner in which the god of death takes its victims, but if Kyoko was to attempt to… she’d say she can hear the footsteps of the god of death.
Actually, even that’s an awkward phrasing considering that it’s more of a gut feeling than anything audible at times. But it’s a feeling different than any other she’s had. When she was young, she dismissed it as sudden pains in her stomach and took to ignoring it whenever it happened. But even at that age her bright mind left her unable to ignore the correlation between when those pains occurred and when someone around her would suddenly drop dead.
(The night her mother died, Kyoko had been struck with such an immense pain she had been unable to move for several hours. Her grandfather called it a panic attack, but she had been certain it was something different.)

Aziraphale’s hands are a mess. Deep red cuts crisscross his palms, thin but numerous beyond counting. Some are scattered along his fingers, more seem to disappear under the cuffs of his shirtsleeves. He’s not bleeding heavily, but blood still wells to the surface from some of the deeper wounds. The skin that isn’t cut is mottled with bruises and dried blood. It might be the worst injury Crowley’s ever seen on him.
It might be the only injury, in fact.

He’s resting a hand on the doorframe, as though to keep himself on his feet, and he’s smiling sheepishly, but Kaito catches a flicker of pain as it makes its way across his features. His other arm is laid across his midsection, and since they’re standing relatively close together, Kaito can hear how labourious his breathing is. They don’t know each other, but Kaito thinks it’s acceptable to be a little bit worried, considering how every time he’s seen Rantaro around, the guy has had a carefree smile on his face.
“Momota, hey,” Rantaro gets out. “Sorry-- I think I have the wrong dorm.”
