Dysecdysis: the abnormal shedding of snakes, wherein the dead outer skin becomes stuck, unable to be removed.
Katsuki knew being an underground hero was vastly different from his own life as a public pro; knew that undercover work was worlds apart from his own, which got millions of views every single day.
He’d been shown the statistics, of course. Seen the low retention and high fatality rates, but he’d never stopped to consider what that kind of life was actually like. What it might be like to return home after days, weeks, months immersed in a mission. What that might do to a person.

Summary
Constriction: a method used by snakes to subdue or kill their prey.
Someone starts to get up. Katsuki latches onto them, palms sparking. They sit back down.
No one’s moving. No one’s leaving.
If they do, time will start again and this will all be real.
But everything is fine inside this bubble – warm and solid. Safe. Aizawa on one side, Yamada the other. Nothing bad is allowed to happen when they’re around. It’s a fucking rule.
Katsuki glances over and notices Aizawa isn’t shaking anymore—
See, everything’s fine. Nothing happened.
