Josh laughs again. Thomas doesn't have to be looking at him to see the way his head tips back, his usual chuckle going a little high and goofy. "The fans loved it, whatever. Dude, they are so thirsty. I got, like, three comments that were just that picture of us kissing, and like a dozen asking who I thought was the hottest on the team. At least a dozen."
"Did you answer?"
"Nah, man. Gotta keep 'em guessing."
Thomas gives up trying not to smile. He glances at Josh out of the corner of his eye, taking in the way he's slouched in the passenger seat, legs spread, one foot up on the little shelf on the side of the door. "You gonna tell me?"

Leaning forward, Thomas lifted the lid off of the box. When he peered inside, he felt his heartbeat skip and stutter what felt like thirty times. Reaching in, he pulled out a golden retriever puppy. As he looked between the puppy and Pierre-Luc, he felt his eyes watering.
“Pierre-Luc…” Thomas trailed off, unsure of what to say to express how he was feeling.
Thomas squeezed the puppy close to his body. That’s when he felt it. A hard, jagged entity pressing into his ribcage. Pulling the puppy back, he saw a small box tied around her collar. Glancing quickly at Pierre-Luc, Thomas saw that he was smiling and wringing his hands together nervously.

Tito hated that quote that every journalist now seemed to resurrect, “It isn’t about being on his wing or not. For me, I just can’t imagine hockey without Mat. I wouldn’t want to.” It had been true at the time, but now the words just taunted him. He had wanted to spend his career with Mat, but Mat didn't want to spend it with him. Without warning, Mat made a deal to join the Maple Leafs, wanting to play along side Auston and in the process throwing away every thing that he and Tito had had. But despite Tito's efforts to ignore Mat, he's forced to spend time with him when they both attend Chabot's wedding and Tito has to talk to Mat. It turns out, the deal with the Maple Leafs wasn't as clear cut as Tito had thought.
