In the canon Dandy's World, we know that the Malfunction incident and the shutdown of Gardenview likely happened before Bassie was fully "replaced" by Cocoa. We can still see Bassie merch in the Easter floor, and Bassie still has two hearts and two abilities like a normal Main Character Toon.
However, in this continuity, whatever the Malfunction was, it never happened, and Bassie will have to expect the worst as she is erased from the public view, distanced from the ones she tries to impress, and left to her own wits. This is a pretty grim take on what "replacing" a Toon entails.
