Summary
Hermione has always trusted rules. Math has right answers, words mean what they're supposed to mean, and people behave according to logic... or at least, they should. But as she grows up, she begins to notice that the world doesn't fit her parameters, that glances are filled with silences she doesn't understand, that other children follow invisible codes she can't decipher. And the loneliness begins to hurt.
Regulus Black, years earlier and in a completely different world, had already learned that logic can be a cage: in his family, every decision is written long before birth. He too observes, too calculates, too tries to fit into a social system that seems to ask him to be someone he's not.
