EDIT: I also want people to be really clear, that the AU I’ve set this in has some serious societal issues. In no way do I support anything that is implicated in the fic. There are deeper issues in this society that can only be addressed by social change or social revolution. The implications that exist in Alfred & Ivan’s relationship are indicative of larger issues in society that both of them, in some way, feel discomfited about (Alfred way more than Ivan in this case). But please, keep that in mind when you’re reading this piece (If you’ve decided to read it after this warning).
